Carbonara

The situation

Carbonara is an AI-powered CRM built for the global hospitality industry, helping restaurants and venues manage waitlists and reservations intelligently. As the product evolved, the team needed to design a major new feature: an AI-powered floor plan. This meant building out a complete UX system from scratch — covering onboarding, edit mode, operational mode, table states, and a range of supporting flows. The challenge wasn't just complexity; it was designing something that would feel intuitive for busy restaurant staff operating in real time.

What we did

We embedded into Carbonara's product process, working closely with their team from August 2025 through January 2026. Our focus was end-to-end UX design for the floor plan feature — mapping out every state and interaction a user might encounter, from first-time setup to live operational use. We collaborated through regular meetings and Slack to stay aligned and move quickly as the product took shape.

The outcome

The first version of the floor plan feature shipped successfully and was considered a strong internal win by Carbonara's leadership.
